Tense adalah bentuk kata kerja dalam bahasa Inggris untuk menunjukkan waktu (sekarang, masa depan, atau masa lalu) terjadinya suatu perbuatan atau peristiwa. Pada kesempatan ini saya akan menjelaskan 9 tenses pada bahasa inggris.
Rumus Positif = Subject + Verb/Verb-s/es + Complement
Rumus Negatif = Subject + do/does not + Verb1 + Complement
Rumus Interogatif = Do/does + Subject + Verb1 + Complement
Contoh Kalimat :
(+) : This idea is out
of the box.
(-) : This
idea isn’t out of the box.
(?) : Is this
idea out of the box?
2. Simple Past Tense
Rumus Positif = Subject + Verb2 + Complement atau Subject + was/were + Complement
Rumus Negatif = Subject + did not/didn’t + Verb1 +
Complement atau Subject + was/were + not + Complement
Rumus Interogatif = Did + Subject + Verb1 + Complement? atau Was/were + Subject + Complement?
Contoh Kalimat :
(+) : It was cold so I put
on my jacket
(-) : The weather wasn’t
good when I was on the way home.
(?) : Was the weather good
when you were on the way home?
3. Simple Future Tense
Rumus Positif = S + will + Verb 1 + O atau S + To Be (is, am, are) + Going To +
Verb 1 + O
Rumus Negatif = S
+ Will + NOT + Verb 1 + O atau S + To Be (is, am, are) + NOT + Going
To + Verb 1 + O
Rumus Interogatif = Will + S + Verb 1 + O ? atau To Be (is, am, are) + S + Going To + Verb 1 + O ?
Contoh Kalimat :
(+) : He will buy new Handphones at online
marketplace.
(-) : He will not buy new Handphones at online marketplace.
(?) : Will she
buy new Handphones at online marketplace?
4. Past Future Tense
Rumus Positif = S + would + bare infinitive atau S + was/were + going to + bare infinitive
Rumus Negatif = S + would + not + bare infinitive atau S + was/were + not + going to + bare infinitive
Rumus Interogatif = Would + S + bare infinitive? atau Was/were + S + going to + bare infinitive ?
Contoh Kalimat :
(+) : Lia was going to give two beautiful scarfs to her friend.
5. Present Continous Tense
Rumus Positif = S + To Be + Verb-ing
Rumus Negatif = S + To Be + Not +Verb-ing
Rumus Interogatif = To Be + S + Verb-ing
Contoh Kalimat :
(+) : Septian is calling you.
(-) : Septian isn’t calling me.
(?) : Is Septian calling you?
6. Future Continous Tense
Rumus Positif = S + will be + present participle (-ing)
Rumus Negatif = S + will + not + be + present participle (-ing)
Rumus Interogatif = Will + S + be + present participle (-ing)
Contoh Kalimat :
(+) : I will be meeting Mr. Ray this Friday.
7. Past Perfect Continous Tense
Rumus Positif = S + had + been + Ving
Rumus Negatif = S + had + not + been + Ving
Rumus Interogatif = Had + S + been + Ving + ?
Contoh Kalimat :
(+) : When he asked me to buy some cosmetics I had been buying the cosmetics
(-) : When he asked me to buy some cosmetics I had not been buying the cosmetics
(?) : When he asked me to buy some cosmetics, Had I been buying the cosmetics?
8. Past Perfect Tense
Rumus Positif = S + had + past participle (V-3)
Rumus Negatif = S + had + not + past participle (V-3)
Rumus Interogatif = had + S + past participle (V-3) + ?
Contoh Kalimat :

Rumus Interogatif : Should/would + subject + have + been + complement ? atau Should/would + subject + have + verb III + object ?
